Workshop Wednesday

It's been a while since we did one of these...about time. I'm home sick today so I have time to come on.

I'm working on my garden mostly.

Backstory - i had done lots of work on it this past summer/fall. It was pretty and would be beautiful this spring.

See here:  image

Then, after one of the big storms up here in the fall, a truck lost its brakes on my street, and took the whole thing out. I had planted like 200 bulbs there aside from the pretty hostas and it was going to be so beautiful. Then it looked like this, mostly the same angle shot.

And another shot from the front...

It was bad...haha. Luckily nobody got hurt and the guy's insurance paid for it.

So now i'm redesigning the garden and finally trying to fix it up. It got too cold too fast (this happened on november 29th or 30th to fix it up before winter came).

This was all that survived out of the areas that were "plowed down".

So now i get to start all over, and re-design. Im trying to look at it positively :)

  • we're in limbo with two projects. We started the main floor bathroom reno- MIL offered us her old vanity (ours was from the 70s) but then it turned out it didn't fit correctly with where the pipes had to go. Of course, H and FIL didn't realize that until after demolishing the old one. Then their old countertop melted when they tried using the power saw to cut it.  We have the new vanity and counter top in there, but the medicine cabinet is still in the garage waiting, as is the new tile.  There's a few tiles already torn up.

MIL won us free counter tops- $3000 worth.  Took forever to get a rep to the house to discuss/pick out what we want. Measure-r came out two weeks ago, and we're waiting to hear back from the rep as to when the installer will actually come install. No response from the email we sent LAST week.  I'm getting frustrated since it has to be installed next week during my spring break or else wait until end of May/early June since I can't miss work to supervise.

  • I reorganized the cabinet under the sink. Put up a tension rod and hung the squeeze bottles. Then bought a tray thing and placed all the other bottles in it. Put all our extra grocery bags into an empty clorox wipe container.

I put up a tension rod (must have an obsession with tension rods right now) under our sink in the bathroom and bought cafe tiers curtain and placed it over the tension rod to hide things under the sink. It was too long so I hemmed it.

We also got a whole new knife set and pots and pans. I'm thrilled about that.

I just bought a raised garden planter. Because I've been growing tomotoes, cucumbers and peppers. My pots are getting too small. But because we live in an apartment space is kinda limited. I'm so excited!

    That's all I have right now. :)

  • Kim-

What a bummer about your yard and flower beds.  I am glad no one was hurt!  As we all know, it could be worse and flowers can be replanted. Think of all the calories you can burn gardening.

I have been doing a lot of cleaning.  Our house needed it.
