I had my physical therapy assessment today

So, it doesn't sound too bad. Basically, my hip muscles and ligaments appear to be overstretched, which is making the joint less stable. So, I need to do exercises to strengthen my hip flexors and make some adjustments to my posture in general.

I'm not sure how long it will be until I can run again. We'll see.

  • I went through the same thing with my shoulder-- I'm glad it's nothing that requires surgery. Hope you heal up quickly!

  • Glad it's something relatively minor.  Hope the new exercises and stretches will help fix you back up so you can get back to being as active as you want!

  • Glad it's not worse!

Are you going to have to see the PT regularly, or are you going to be able to do most of it at home?

I go back on Friday for the first actual therapy appointment. After that, she said our appointments will probably be weekly and I'll have daily exercises to do at home.

  • I guess this is much more common than I realized.  I am going through something similar.  I have been in PT about 3 weeks and for the first time since I started, my pelvis wasnt "out of place" today.  My pelvis actually shifts so much that my leg lengths and placements are off.  I'm still not able to run, do jumping jacks, or anything else that "pounds the pavement".  I hope you can run soon!

  • Yeah, I'd been running for a while, and I had various aches and pains come and go over time. My hip had been bothering me for a while, and when I took a break from running, the pain got better but didn't go away. Then, when I tried running again, it got worse, so I figured I'd better not push it. So, I haven't run but a few miles in the past 3 months, and I really miss it!
  • I'm sure the PT will work wonders and kick your butt!
