Re: Amazing salad with a homemade dressing needed! Help!

  • I can't rave enough about this salad - Bacon, Egg and Asparagus Salad

It really only works if your guests are fans of runny eggs, but you could hard-cook them if someone isn't. Assemble everything but the eggs and then cook those to order.

  • I don't know if you are going sweet or savory but I always find a simple salad with fruit/toasted nuts goes over very well.  Strawberry/Spin with poppyseed dressing?  I had a really great salad with feta, mandarin oranges and toasted pecans.  It was awesome.  A great dressing that goes with anything:  2tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 2 tbsp white vinegar, 2 tbsp maple syrup, salt n pepper. HTH
  • What else are you serving? That will affect what I'd recommend.

As for dressings, I've found that a really good flavored balsamic vinegar and then a teeny bit of oil afterwards is a great dressing, even on just salad greens.

Like any good super hero, I'm using my alter ego to protect my identity. Goodbye Silver poster status!
  • My go-to salad is field greens, sliced strawberries, pecans and crumbled goat cheese with a dressing of equal parts red wine vinegar, olive oil and sugar with either minced garlic or shallots. You can do balsamic too. In the winter I do the same but with cranberries instead of strawberries.
