Here are my new counters. Ignore whatever you see that shouldn't be in the picture. I don't do clutter removal.
Old Counters:

New Counters: Ignore the white striping. It has to dry a day or so before I can paint. My new counter is a bit shorter in the back than my old.

I don't have a total shot of the kitchen yet. It's still a mess. But here's a peek. The rounded corners really add a lot IRL (and our safer..lol) and the texture is really pretty too but hard to take a pic of. It has a very leather-ish look to it.
I have a couple more..hang on.
Re: PIP! We are done!
Oh Gosh! I can't remember. And the Wilsonart people called it something different than the lumberyard besides. The three edge options are all so different that you'll know it when you see it.
The color is great! It's one of the HD ones. I'm not a great photographer as you can tell but it's lovely IRL>
I love how you say don't mind the clutter and there is no clutter to be found. lol.
The countertops look great!
There isn't much of one actually.
What I had before was some crappy less than builder grade laminate stuff. It was seamed all over where it was joined together and where it was glued on top. The edges chipped off, the whole thing delaminated and the color washed away. in SIX years. The edges were also squared.
My new one is Wilsonart HD with rounded edges. The peninsula area is also 4 inches wider than the old one. There is 1 seam in the whole thing.
It was a bad quality to good quality switch for us.
I warned you all that when you go from black to black there wouldn't be much of a difference.
Basically, the first looked like hell in real life, the second does not!
What I should've said is..."Here is my random p&s camera picture I took with a disaster of a house and a kid hanging on my leg.
If you were expecting photoshopped, pretty and artistic ala the blogosphere...you got the wrong girl.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
It's Luna Night.
Mine is very very textured. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like leather. Mine also has reflective peices in it so it shines in the light.
It's beautiful and looks a lot like stone in IRL. It's very sturdy and heavy as well. My old countertops didn't weigh anything compared to this and it's still heavier than m MILs formica. I appreciate that.
I was told by our contractor (who has no affiliation to Wilsonart) that I made a good choice. The textured ones with some sheen to them hold up better long term as it hides scratches and you can't see when the surface wears away/delaminates as fast. He said we're talking 20 years no matter what you get, but the textured stuff generally looks better longer term.
I'm sure cookies and stuff will leave an imprint but, I don't care that much or I'll grab a cutting board (My mom taught me to do that anyways). It's not so textured dough is going to get stuck in the cracks or anything like that.
I will say that while I love black...it shows. every. little. speck. I love the color so I deal and it's a counter I wipe 10xs a day anyways so it doesn't bother me, but I know other people it annoys the snot out of it. My old black ones showed a lot..but this one is definitely worse.
All in all it's a good workable pick. I'm the queen of practical and I don't see any issues with it yet.
It does look a lot the same as yours. I actually looked into the color you have and the biggest difference is the sheen level. It's very similiar. But black is one of those things that well...black is black sometimes.
Yes, the difference is huge in real life. It's just not high end kitchen nor do I care enough at the moment to spend time on blog worthy pictures to prove it...you get the drift.
It is life changing!
