I was looking through the OOTD from yesterday and saw your blue Gap shift dress. I found that over the weekend and had a fit for it but they didn't have my size. A store employee (who didn't obviously want to help) told me it was online-and it wasn't.. Long story short I had to track it down through another store and had it shipped to me. It arrived yesterday and is a little loose but I love it so much, I'm definitely keeping it. I thought about having it taken in some on the side but then again maybe it's supposed to be a little loose through the middle. How does yours fit?

Re: **Billy'sGirl**

  • I actually sized down in that dress.  I tried on the medium (which is my "as normal as you can get" size at the Gap - because their sizing is so wonky!) and it fit great in the top/shoulders but yes, there was just a little too much extra fabric around the middle.  Sizing down made it just a touch snug (but not too sung to be uncomfortable) through the shoulders but fit nicely everywhere else.  I think that having it taken in a little on the sides would help give it some shape and solve your problem (I wish I would have thought of that...)

The Gap has so many cute dresses this spring but most of the ones I have tried on look terrible on me!  I do love this dress though and I got so many compliments on it when I wore it yesterday.

  • I have the small as well. I saw the one large they had in the store and it was very big for a large size. I knew then that a smaller size was in order! I definitely could not have gone smaller though, like you said, it's snug in the shoulder area but blousy in the middle. Hmm. I might take it to a tailor and see what they think. It's such a gorgeous dress for the $! It's sold out everywhere though, the SA had a hard time tracking it down for me.

  • When I tried the medium on in the store, I tried belting it, I just grabbed a random belt and didn't really play with it that much - that might work too.
