I just got an email from my remaining sales rep asking for Saturday, May 5th off work for her sister's wedding shower, and asked if I would work it since our new hire won't be trained enough to work by herself yet.
I don't work weekends. I've worked one and a half in the 2 and a half years since i've been here. I hate working weekends, because they're insanely busy (we really need 2 people here, but both reps can't work every weekend).
I'm already working both S/S the 21st and 22nd, which is a weekend that J doesn't have his kids and can spend with me. If I work the 5th, that's another Saturday I don't get to spend with him. I'm already losing this weekend because of Easter and his daughter's birthday.
Out of 6 weekends, I get 3 with him, and am losing 2 already. I don't want to lose half of the only remaining weekend.
I spent time training my rep for her promotion, and am backed up on my own stuff. I'm going to have to train the new rep (who has no experience), getting further behind. I'm going to have to work OT to get my isht done. I'm working one weekend already.
I get NOTHING out of this situation.
I don't want to work May 5th. I don't care if it's her sister's wedding shower. I'm pissed.

I can't flame you for being pissed. That's really annoying.
You're going to do it, though, right? I mean, it's her sister's wedding shower, and she's giving a decent amount of notice.
Don't get me wrong. I'd grouse about it constantly. But I'd suck it up and do it.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
I told her she'd have to trade with me, work the 21st and 22nd if I work the 28th, 29th, and 5th.
Nothing flame worthy in the OP and glad you are trying to do a trade. It's only fair that way.
Well, by working the 28th and 29th, I should get 2 days off during the week, but I'm only getting 1 and a half. And it costs me $8 freaking dollars in gas to get here and home on that half day.
Eh different thing are important to different people.To me, it's really important to and I enjoy attending all wedding related events of those really close to me. Also I'm willing to bet she might have a role in planning it.
