Poll: Which corbel/wood bracket for counters?

So we're running trim around the back of our peninsula and there will be 4 "boxes", so five stiles (vertical pieces). I have our test trim piece propped up on the side of the peninsula, and we're going to run it all along the back.

I'd like to put a decorative corbel/wood bracket on 3 of the 5 stiles, so one on either end and one in the middle, like how Life in the Fun Lane did here, but with the trim we are using we need a narrower corbel (hers are amazing though)

I have had a hard time finding ones that are the right width and depth for our trim and counters, and these two would work, but I'm torn. We're painting them white to match the cabinets.

Option A - $16 each, $48 total (need 3). 1 3/4 inches wide, so 1/4 inch wider than the other option.

Option B - $29 each, so $87 total, so almost $30 more than the other option. It's also 1/4 inch narrower but a little more contemporary looking.

Which one would you go with? I kind of like the look of option B better, but don't know if the price difference is worth it. It's narrower, so might not look quite as substantial.

  • I like #2 better. They feel a bit more simple and classic to me.  I am not a fan of the carved out line on the side of the first.

(I have a knack for choosing the more expensive item, sorry!)

  • Option A. Disregarding price. I just think A offers more architectural interest. The ones she has are pretty curvy - more closely related to your Option A.
  • I like option B better.  They look more substantial.  There just seems to be too much going on in the first one (too many curves & I don't care for the routered detail) which make them look thinner to me, which in turn makes it look "cheaper" to me.  It could just be the natural wood & once they're painted white I'm sure they'd both be beautiful.
  • After looking at the details of your kitchen cabinets and the trim that you are planning on putting up I think the first option goes better with the rest of your kitchen due to the edging
  • I prefer # 1.
