The accidental L word

I think someone posted not too long ago how their BF accidentally said love you as they were getting off the phone.  That just happened to me.

The guy I have been talking to for a few weeks received some bad medical news this morning.  We talked on my lunch and had a pretty deep talk about everything going on with him.  His mom was on her way over to his house and she got there sooner than he was expecting, so it was a bit of a rushed hang up...during which he said Oh my mom just got here, I gotta go. Love you, bye." I just said bye and we hung up.  But I was staring at my phone like WTF did he just say!  I know that it was just a combination of everything going on in his life and the rush of getting off the phone.  He did send me a text that said "Um, what did I say!" I said Yeah, I just looked at my phone like uh, did I hear him right" He just said LOL back.

Can't wait to talk to him later tonight and see where the conversation will go with this one!

Re: The accidental L word

  • Whoops! Awkward!!

Was it totally an accident (out of habit) or do you think it could go down that road?

    The Nestie formally known as....
  • Haha can we share accidental L word stories in this post???

Mine isn't very entertaining. I was dating a guy for 2 months. We had just watched a movie together with his best friend. Afterwards, when we were alone, he said he hadn't really wanted to see the movie. I asked him why he watched it with us then and he said, "because you guys are my best friends and I love you."

    Silence....

I think he just meant a friendly love you thing but since we were dating at that time it was sort of funny to hear it.

Another, not so funny story but got me thinking, was when I was dating a guy and while we were hooking up I could have sworn I heard him whisper "I Love You." But I knew that wasn't the case so I ignored it. It did get me thinking though, are there any people that thought their SO said I Love You and they said it back...only to find out they misheard??

I am pretty sure it was an accident but it definitely is going down that road.  I'm still pretty sure it was just an out of habit thing given the circumstances going on right then.  Still awkward though!

HAha no, but my last two boyfriends, both said it CRAZY quiet the first time, and so I wasn't even sure they'd said it. The first one it was right as I was walking out of his house, and by the time I realized what he'd said I was already out  the door so I just sort of half ignored it and half freaked out about it until the next time I saw him and he said it out loud for real haha.

The second guy it was right when we were going to bed, and I think maybe he was a little drunk, he said it and I was like WHAT????? REALLY?? and he just didn't say anything haha so I ignored it some more. But with that guy  I was soooo not ready for it lol

  • So, funny story about that.  BF was over visiting me the day before our first kiss/when we started dating (we were just really good friends at that point), and he went to hug me goodbye when he left, and apparently he almost said "I love you" and just barely managed to bite it back at the last second.
