Don't know how I should dress

I'm a 23 year old mom who had a baby 8 months ago and my problem is whenever I take my son out for a walk, I feel like I get certain looks from people when they look at me. I dress in graphic tees all the time with leggings and ugg boots. It feels like they think that I'm a teenager and it's a bad feeling, lol. I was just wondering if there are any tips on how I can improve my wardrobe?

Re: Don't know how I should dress

  • When I was 23, I passed for about 16, so I would have gotten looks regardless of how I dressed.  If you want to dress "older", then perhaps think about losing the graphic tees & Uggs, adding a tunic and flats to your leggings.  With jeans, you can keep the graphic tees, but add a blazer & loafers or flats.  But honestly, if someone gives you a look, that's their issue and not yours.  Who cares what they think?  As long as your friends and family care about you and think highly of you, then the rest of the world can lump it.

  • I would suggest doing more of a tunic over leggings so that you look more appropriate as a mom....leggings as pants are never a great look unless your graphic tees are super long and cover your bum.  :)  I wear graphic tees, uggs and yoga pants and I'm 31 so it doesn't bother me.  If you want to look more put together you can always add some accessories such as a scarf or some fun jewelry and maybe swap out the Uggs for a flat, a non-athletic type sneaker, a boat shoe or a riding boot.  Jeans are also good to mix in...skinny or flare are still young but pulled together.  You can also update your graphic tees to a blouse or a top with a fun print that is still young and fun but maybe more sophisticated.  As we are getting into warmer weather, sundresses, cropped jeans and shorts with a nicer top and sandals, flats or a boat shoe are all fun and young but also put together.  Honestly, though, I don't give a lot of credence to what other people think...I dress for myself and I like to be put together and do my hair and makeup because it makes me feel good.
