XP: How much spray paint for a dresser?

I'm going to tackle my first dresser makeover. I actually have two - one basic dresser for our bedroom that I'm going to sand and spray paint with Rustoleum's Heirloom White and then a slightly more complicated dresser for the baby's room that I'm going to spray paint as well, and then attempt decorative panels.  Eek.

The dresser for our room is 45x34x18" and the dresser for E's room is  41x20x33". How many cans of 12oz spray paint should I order?  Sadly none of our local hardware stores carry the color from this brand.  Other rec's are welcome!

Thanks!

  • We used one can for our 21"x34"x18" chest so I would assume at least 2 cans for your project. I would probably order 3 just to be safe.

  • It kind of depends. I spray painted a dresser that was about the size for the one in your room. It went from brown to white. Going lighter required more paint. I used 1 can of primer and 3 of white paint. I cut it kind of close too and barely had enough when the last can was completely empty.
  • we used 6 cans on a dresser we did. It was primer and paint all in one. I'll try and post a pic of it so you can see the results.
