Oil Cleansing Method?

Anyone do/tried this?  Results and/or advice?

If you practice OCM, what products do you use, if any (toner, moisturizers, etc.)?

Thanks!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method?

  • I use it. I have really (really) oily skin and a lot of clogged pores. Whenever I switch cleansers/routines, I get great results for about 2 weeks and then my skin goes back to its normal state. I've only been using OCM for about 2 months now but my skin has gotten better and better.

I use about 10-20% castor oil and the rest jojoba oil. (Too much castor oil and it will dry out your skin.) I moisturize afterwards with a drop or two of jojoba. I was very nervous at first whether or not it would make my skin an oily mess. But it has had the opposite effect. Seriously, my skin used to get oily an hour and a half after applying makeup. Now, I don't have to blot until mid-afternoon. However, I've noticed since I've introduced AHA peels, the shine has returned faster. I'm positive it's because I'm drying out my skin more.

  • I OCM as well. I started doing it daily, and still kept with my regular moisturizer and toner. Now, I OCM twice a week, & use a gentle cleanser the rest of the week. I don't wash my hair everyday, and the oil kept getting into my hair, making it oily, so I OCM when I wash my hair basically :)

My cleanser is Super by Dr. Perricone's Sweet Clean. Moisturizer is also by Super, called O-Mega Moisture.

As far as my OCM mix, I use a tbsp of Jojoba, 5 drops of Castor, and 3 drops of Tea Tree. I have combo skin.

  • I did it for a while and liked it.  It got my skin clean, didn't make my oilier spots (t-zone) any oilier, and it helped make the drier parts of my skin soft and moisturized.  However, I ultimately stopped doing it, as I didn't feel like the results were any better than when I use Cetaphil.
  • i used/use it but i am lazy and it doesnt always happen. but when i do i love it.
