Input on replacement windows-Viewpoint windows

I have been getting quotes for some windows since ours are going to need to be done soon.  I wasn't sure what we could expect the project to cost.  One of the contractors I had give me a quote sells Viewpoint brand windows.  He quoted the Viewpoint 3000 and the price at $2570.00-3500 depending on whether I got with grills or not and a few other variables.  That includes labor also.  The price seems very reasonable, but almost too low to me.  We were at Home Depot and had them give us some prices on just windows (Jeld Wen brand) and it was close to that for just the windows without labor.  I don't want to spend more than I have to when we decide to have them done, but I don't want to get junk either.  Should I consider the Viewpoint windows or stay away?

Re: Input on replacement windows-Viewpoint windows

  • Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, etc are all going to be more than an independent window dealer.  I don't know about Viewpoint specifically (I don't even remember what brand we bought last year).   However- a good anectdotal story for you.  My brother installs windows part time to help out a friend.  The friend had given an estimate to a customer & the customer was thrilled that the price was lower than Sears & it was for the same windows.   This woman didn't buy the windows from my brothers company-  she bought them instead through Sears b/c she was able to put them on a credit card!!  How did my brother know?  B/c they do contract work for Sears & installed this woman's windows that she payed close to double for b/c she charged it on her Sears account.

Get a few quotes and search the brands of windows they sell.  We had 3 or 4 quotes, and went with a locally manufactured window that at least two of the companies carried.  We went with the company that 1. didn't trash talk the rest of the companies.  2.  had the best reviews.  3. And not my brother b/c he lives hundreds of miles away.
