please share "lemon" cake recipes

My DH loves lemon desserts.  I want to make the cake for his upcoming bday.  I'm thinking of a round layered cake (vs. sheet cake, bars, or trifle).

Oh sorry - reading comprehension fail - I didn't see that you wanted layer cakes! I don't believe I have ever made a layer lemon cake. I'm sure one of the other awesome ladies here will chime in! Again, sorry about that.

Annie's Eats has a lemon poppyseed cake with raspberry curd filling and lemon buttercream.  She made mini cakes. I made it as cupcakes.  You could easily make it a a regular layered cake.  She mentions in her notes (which I read the first time I made it but not this time) that she'd probably use a lemon cream cheese frosting which I think I did before and I think would be better but it was really good with the regular buttercream as well.

I just made these cupcakes for Easter, and they were amazing! I think you could fairly easily turn them into a layer cake. It doesn't clearly say, but the recipe yielded two dozen cupcakes.
