Shelter in MI inundated with dogs

This story is so heartbreaking.  Maybe there are people out there that can help.

Re: Shelter in MI inundated with dogs

  • Awful.

FYI though...it's in Michigan, and not Maryland.

  • That is sad.  I was ready to call Tom and let him know we were going to be fostering some littles but yeah, not in MD.  Hope they can get some help though.

  • It's not in my part of the state but I'm making phone calls to secure donations and hopefully some adoptions.

  • This is so sad. I hope all these little guys find the loving homes they so deserve.
  • A lurker here but I live about a half hour away from here. This woman is horrendous. I hope she is punished for being so irresponsible and abusive to those animals. If she isn't charged with anything she will have fines up the wazoo since she didn't have licenses for any of those dogs or any of the proper documentation to be breeding. On the news tonight she was interviewed and she said "None of those dogs were sick, my husband and I were sick and got behind on grooming." I feel SO sick for those dogs and wish we were in a position to adopt one.

The shelter has been closed to the public temporarily because they are so overwhelmed with the amount of dogs. The number of dogs keeps climbing since many of the dogs were/are pregnant and keep having babies. This shelter can usually care for somewhere around 40 dogs normally.

  • This was posted on my shelter's fb page, asking for help. We're just south of Chicago, so word is getting out. I saw that news clip that said 'the dogs weren't sick'. F off lady. They weren't taken care of. I'm hoping they'll find homes/foster families fast. Although I don't condone the woman buying a puppy TWICE from a backyard breeder, thank god she finally suspected something was up and left a message w animal control. And thank god they took the call seriously.
