Let the speculation begin!!

What direction do you think Romney will go for his VP nominee?  A popular governor in a key state?  A Rep. for the federal experience?  Someone with clear foreign affairs experiences (oooh!  Robert Gates FTW!)

  • Paul Ryan.  He needs some sex & passion in that crustyass campaign.

And I love Dr. Gates, too.  (I grew up in CS)

  • My fear is that he's going to go for a "real conservative" to gain traction with the far right.  Maybe even Santorum or Gingrich.

    image
  • I look for him to go with a hard-core, proven, right-winger to address concerns among an increasingly conservative base that the is not conservative enough.  Otherwise, I think he risks a lot of the more conservative voters staying home.

No way does Ryan accept.  I don't think it'll be anyone with presidential aspirations.  Romney's VP nominee will have almost nothing to gain and everything to lose.

    Bobby Jindal. Pretty please.

I can't remember the details, but didn't he fall out of favor a few years back for something or other?  It's a shame, he seemed to be one of the last moderate Republicans left.

I believe that was after he gave the repub response to the state of the union a few years ago. I believe the comparison was that the sounded like kenneth the page from 30 rock.

This. Jindal was terribly lackluster. He has to get someone that will play up the way right folks.

I don't think Romney can afford to go that moderate when he needs so much help with the base.

  • Isn't Jindal Catholic?

I predict he VP nominee will be a southern Protestant.  Trying to think who fits the bill besides Rick Perry and Jeb Bush.  Haley Barbour?  Bob McDonnell?  Help me out here.

  • I'd say Nikki Haley, but I don't think Mittens wants to be accused of pulling a McCain.

groomy is saying this would be a good choice.

    Crying

I'm hoping Mittens is too elitist to be able to stomach the idea of veep who doesn't have a college degree.

But that assumes Mittens wins.  If he doesn't the running mate goes nowhere.

    isn't it Marco Rubio??

    I was thinking this too.

OR a very-conservative person similar to Santorum in their views.

  • when do you think he'll pick someone?  I know McCain didn't choose Palin til August, is that late or about right for most elections?

  • I thought most of them had fallen out of favor.

McDonnell with his vaginal ultrasound wouldn't help Romney with the gender gap.

Rubio recently sponsored more anti-birth control stuff that the Rs as of late seem to be wanting to step away from.  He also co-sponsored PIPA, although I'm sure the flea sized attention span of the voting public has forgotten that debacle.

Jindal's speech.  Also, the exorcism, but apparently I'm the only one who seems to care about that.

Walker, isn't he one of the least favored governors in the country?  Who would pick a VP who's facing a potential recall?

Barbour seems to be the only guy who's stayed out of the limelight recently.

ETA Rubio was cosponsor of that Blunt "let any employers deny you anything they want" healthcare bill.  Didn't that end up being pretty embarrassing for the Rs?

Oh he was so dorky in that speech!

I'm thinking he's not going to go to the right. I think he needed the right to get the nod but to win the general he needs to get independents. He can't win by only wooing conservatives. I'm thinking Chris Christie.

This dude is politically finished after the recent pardons. I think he was getting out of politics anyway as his wife didn't want him to run for President.
