Help diagnose, please. Bit of a confession (and TMI)

I got my period a full 10 days ahead of schedule this month.  It's a little lighter than normal, but when I thought it had finally almost stopped last night (on day 7 today) it started again, and I passed a pretty large clot. It's varying between brown and red, currently.

I did take Plan B on 3/28 just to be safe (confession), which can cause an early period.  Do you think this is spotting, or my actual period?  Does anyone have experience with this pill?

My regular cycle is supposed to start on the 13th, so for all I know this has been spotting, with more fun to come at the end of the week.  I plan on seeing my doctor if I'm still spotting/bleeding in a few days.

Look with your special eyes.

  • It sounds like your actual period but I would be careful and definitely go see your doctor if it doesn't stop in a few days.

  • Maybe the extra dose of hormones has caused you to spot for a 7 day period. I spot like crazy a week before my period (almost like AF) because my hormones are all out of whack and then AF starts for a day or so and that's all.
  • The Plan B is more than likely fuuucking with your cycle.

eta: I edited this out before and I'm not sure why: I have had this same experience after taking Plan B and my cycle got back in the groove after a month or so.

  • Didn't you just start BCP as well?

If yeah, then its probably a combination of BCP newness and Plan B.

  • This is most likely just a side effect. It means it worked. You are not the next to get KU. (yet)

    From WebMD:

With Plan B or Plan B One-Step, you may also have some unexpected bleeding. It should go away by the time of your next period. However, it is possible that Plan B or Plan B One-Step may cause your next period to be heavier or lighter than usual. It may also come earlier or later than is normal for you. If you don't get your period within three weeks, get a pregnancy test to make sure you're not pregnant.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • Oh, and YES I started birth control on Sunday evening, too. Thanks, cuppinhor.

I'm 99% sure it's just my system fvvcking around with me, since I fvvcked around with it.  But part of me is still wtf and kind of nervous. And who likes bleeding for an extra 5 days? My nips are semi-sore, too (more like extra-sensitive).  Fun times all-around.

    And thanks nerdicorn!
