Thanks!  They are new.  The old ones were louvered (and 20 years old), these are raised panel and the bottom ones are cottage style (not that you can really see it from this size of a picture) so the split matches the window panes.

I thought so.  Ours look exactly like your original ones and I was going to paint them black (they are hunter green) but now I realize it's probably not going to make them look better.  I'm going to buy new ones now.

Very nice. I like the black of the shutters. What color are you thinking for the door?

I don't know.  I go back and forth.  Maybe red or grey... I wouldn't mind a change from red, but so far I haven't found anything I like more than BM Heritage Red 6 panel door with trim colored sidelights.  I photoshopped this pic for an example:

Aside from appearance, all kinds of bees just LOVED to make nests behind our louvered shutters, so I couldn't wait to get rid of them.  But our original ones had been painted, so it could work if you really want to, but that isn't an easy job (imagine getting in each louver).  I don't know how many shutters you need, but you might be surprised by the price, they weren't as expensive as I anticipated they might be.

  • Looks great!  I think the red door looks nice too!

  • It looks great!  Just changing the shutters totally updated the look of the house in my eyes.  I like your photoshopped red door.  I would also consider gray as another option.

  • the contrast between the black with the brick really makes the house "pop" a lot more, the old color seemed to blend in with the brick.  Nice choice! :)
  • Looks good. I really like the photoshopped pic with the red door. I think gray would work, but the red gives a nice pop of color. Either way, it's a big improvement:)
