I just purchased a new home and cannot figure out how I am going to organize my make-up. The vanity has 2 sinks, but not a whole lot of cabinet space. There are no drawers, just four cabinets underneath the sinks. There is a soaking tub with a ledge, but I dont know that I want to keep my stuff there. Any suggestions?
Re: Make-up organization?
I am actually on the same boat. my bathroom is really small though. toilet, shower, one sink with the cabinet underneath... and i don't have space for a free standing piece of furniture. i was actually thinking of convincing my DH to install some kind of small cabinet on the wall... if its even possible. otherwise i might be forced to keep all my stuff in the bedroom.
maybe adding a small cabinet to your bathroom might help?
My bathroom has little storage as well and I just rearranged my make-up because it was not very easily accessible. I purchased a set of acrylic cases/drawers and really love how accessible they are. I keep my day-to-day items in the only vanity drawer (in an acrylic divider - actually, it is an acrylic silverware tray) but would be able to access it just as easily from these. They've been a great solution and I love the look. I don't know how to PIP, but you can check out the link below for pictures.

I have a ton of makeup accumulated from over the years. Here's what I do:
Small makeup bag with everyday things I use. I put this in a drawer but it can just as easily be in a cabinet or if you have a pretty bag you can display it on the counter.
-One Foundation
- One Makeup application pad
-One powder
-One mascara
-One Eyeliner
- 4 eyeshadows I typically use (2 light, 2 darker, in neutral brown shimmer and tan shimmer)
- One eyeshadow primer
I also keep my skin cleaning and moisturizing products in the drawer. But again, pick just one or two that you use most often and keep them in your cabinet.
Backup Bin-
Then, with the rest of my makeup (stuff I don't use often, brightly colored stuff, stuff I replaced with something newer and better) I have a backup bin. It's a cloth bin and I have everything organized into gallon plastic bags so I can find what I'm looking for.
I have a bag for nail polishes and clippers, a bag for lipsticks and lip glosses, a bag for eyeliners and mascaras, a bag for skin cleaning and moisturizing products,a bag for eyeshadows, a bag for old foundations (these can be used again if I run out and don't have time to get more), and a bag for body lotions and other body products (sunscreen, etc.)
I used to keep this bin in the cabinet under the sink but it's harder to get in and out to organize. You gotta organize it every six months and throw out stuff that's too old or dried out to use. I now keep it in the master bedroom closet on the floor, under our clothes rack. Easy to reach, doesn't take up much space, and looks neat. Whenever I want to get in there for something, it's pretty easy to find.
The tub ledge is best used for a pretty looking and good smelling bath gift set in a pretty basket or container.
I also took some of my favorite perfumes and body sprays, bought pretty glass perfume bottles at hobby lobby, and emptied the perfume into them and set them on a mirrored tray to display them. They make a beautiful and functional decor piece and don't take up much space.
Hope my advice is helpful!
I just bought this to help me store my makeup all in one place and not take up too much room.
