Re: What does your bathroom tile look like?

  • We just went through the debate of picking tile for our 5'x4' half bath.  Unfortunately it's not in yet to PIP.  We decided on 13"x13" squares:

that we're going to do on the diagonal.

My runner up was basketweave, and I looked at several of those.  In the end, I was afraid I'd get tired of it.  And between the hassle of installation, and the fact that we're also putting radiant heat under it, I really, really didn't want to risk getting tired of it.  There's pictures, etc. of what we were considering and what we chose here, here, and here.

  • Our master and upstairs hall bathroom aren't finished yet (old house/old vinyl) and the main bath on our first floor is just a painted floor right now but our powder room has a mix of sizes:

    boca chica tile

  • Dangeruss - your flooring is beautiful as well.

  • Our master bath has 12x12 travertine with a 1/16 th grout line they were a pain to install. The smaller tiles in our other bathrooms were much easier, but the larger tiles do look great.

The color we chose is maybe 60/40 tan/gray.  The tile is called Tracce del Tempo, and the color is called marrone.  We found it at a local tile store, but I'm sure if you googled the name it's sold in other places too.

  • Ooh! I vote for the penny tile! So fun and appropriate!

    I have 1" hex tile.image

We have something similar to this but lighter, more of a white gray, and I LOVE it. It looks so nice.

  • We did 12x12 in our bath. In the condo we had 16x16 in a space about that size and it looked really nice.

I love penny tile. Hexagon or basketweave tile is also a great vintage look.

It really just depends on the look you're going for and what your budget is. We couldn't afford the penny tile I wanted since we were redoing the whole bath.

  • Basement Bath has porcelain tile that looks like slate 20 x 20 I think.
