Hillary Clinton getting a Hairvention? cut/paste

She may be busy helping running the country and world but there's no excuse for Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, not to rule her hair. It is O.O.C. (out of control)

Especially with her latest fashion faux pas and obsession?the dreaded 1980s scrunchie! That seems to be her favorite hair accessory of choice. Clearly she never saw the episode of 'Sex and the City' where Carrie Bradshaw talks about how no self respecting woman would be caught dead in a SCRUNCHIE!

So Mrs. Clinton has left her staff no choice. It's time for a Hairvention.

The fashion misstep is downright embarrassing for her aides, according to an Elle magazine story. In a new profile of Ms. Clinton, an anonymous State Department official explained that the dated ponytail holders help Ms. Clinton keep her hair looking tidy as she exits an airplane. But, the source added, "some of us are looking to ban the scrunchies."

"As a chick, it's a big pain in the butt. The weather is different, and you're in and out of the plane," she said. "[The staff] gets off that plane looking like garbage most days, but she has to look camera ready. She said the reason she grew her hair long was that it's easier. She has options."

The topic has lit up the web faster than a new foreign-policy debate.

Hilary George-Parkin at Styleite defended the Secretary of State's right to look like a Midwestern mom.

"This woman is out there representing America and championing the rights of women and children around the world. If she wants to do so in a scrunchie from time to time? So be it."

According to the Globe and Mail, others described Ms. Clinton's scrunchies as a fashion trademark ? and even a sign of stability in uncertain times.

Commenting at Styleite, fustylite said she would hate to see Ms. Clinton ditch the pant suits and scrunchies. "HC is an icon of mine, and I think her style just shows that she's too damn important and busy to be bothered with shallow bs like stylists and hair dressers! Go Hillary!"

What do you think about Hillary's scrunchies? Is it fair to critique a politician's appearance?

meh, at least she chooses neutral colors and not the bright florescent scrunchies of the 80's, and she might be the lone supporter keeping Scrunchies business afloat!
