CD Mommas

I've started collecting to build a stash, we're not sure when we'll begin, probably after baby's cord falls off, but if we do CD during the newborn phase I'm pretty well set on using GMD prefolds and covers. My question to you all is what are your favorite websites to order from? I'm thinking we'll mostly do pockets, different brands (right now I have some Rumparooz and BG 4.0s), and I'll experiment stuffing with different inserts (the included microfiber, prefolds, hemp, and bamboo).

Also, what detergent and how much do you use and what's your wash routine? Right now the washer in our place in an ancient top loader (I'm talking 1980s, just ask Nittany she's seen the pic), but once we move out of this rental we'll most likely be back to our HE front loader (which currently sits off to the side in the basement being stored and if I really want to can make T hook it up and use ours and put the ancient one off to the side if HE works better for CD laundry).

And lastly, how many and what size wetbags do you have for your diaper bag? Do I need let's say a PW Medium size one for longer trips where we'll be out for most of the day, and a small one for just a couple hour trip to Target?

I feel like I still have a lot to learn even though I've been researching for over a year. The logistics of it just throw me off a little bit! Thanks ladies!

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Re: CD Mommas

  • For detergent I've been using Rockin Green, but I've been noticing some serious stink lately so just have my first load in with Tide powder as recommended by a bunch of girls on an off board I'm part of. We have slightly hard water Sony think that is the Rockin Green problem.

I honestly wish I had a top loader for my CD laundry, but we have a Samsung HE front loader.

Im no help with where to order from because all the really good sites don't ship to  Canada. Happy shopping!

  • Re: washing... I use rockin green and it works great. A top loader is better for doing cd laundry than an he machine. For our whirlpool duet he I do a cold quick wash and then a whitest white with extra rinse.

For diapers: I bought most of mine on eBay, amazon, or random diaper companies (check out the cd board here) when they have sales. I just bought some brand new Charlie bananas for about 9 a diaper on eBay-they retail for 16-22 each. I like sized diapers for our kiddos, but I have a ton Of one size. If I was doing my stash over I would go for all Charlie bananas-love them, but only their sized ones. Fuzzi buns aren't my favorite for one size, but their sized ones fit B great. Bg's are good, but I do not like grovias-stain way too easily and their inserts are rough. BabykIcks aren't my favorite and I love rumparooz, but they have a super low rise for our kids.

I have 2 pail liners, a kangacare (rumparooz brand) wet bag that zips, and a grovia small bag for my diaper bag. That works well for the two kids. I do laundry every other day

You can always look into some euc diapers-I tried a lot of different brands by buying 1or 2 used diapers and then I wasn't out 20 bucks of they didn't work.

Also, amazon has a buy 5 get 1 free on oh Katy's right now.

Finally- I hated the hook and loop-gets stuck on everything, don't hold up as well, and they are easy for small hands to take off.

  • We use mostly the Flip diapers with snaps. They are a OS cover with inserts. I like them. Recently got 6 Kushies (for $14!) at a consignment sale. I think I need to toss them in the dryer to seal them because they seem to be wicking :-/ Mom likes these better because they are AIO and she likes the hook and loop. - D hasn't started trying to take them off (yet) but they are a smaller size so I'm not sure how long they will fit him.

I use ALL free and clear with a top load washer
