Newbie bread/ yeast question
Hi all! I've been making my own bread for a month or so and am having a great time with it. The recipe that I've been using calls for an 8oz. package of yeast, eventually yielding two loaves. I recently bought yeast not noticing that instead of the 8oz. package I'm used to, it came in an 11oz. package.
My question is can I measure out 2 Tbsp and call it even or just go ahead and use the entire package? Would it make a difference? Many thanks again!
Re: Newbie bread/ yeast question
It would make a difference and could make a mess. I would just go with the recipe. If you are making a lot of bread, go ahead and buy a jar.
8oz is an awful lot of yeast, though, are you sure about that measurement? 2 tbsp of yeast does not equal 8 ounces.

That sounds off to me too, but maybe it's fresh yeast, not the granules we're used to?

Duh. GRAMS not ounces. Sorry, I typed this in a hurry and that's what I get for not paying attention. Thanks for pointing that out
Again, I'm sorry for any confusion.
