Thermofoil Cabinets

So our house (built in 1995) has the white thermofoil cabinets.  On one of the cabinet doors the thermofoil is actually off in the middle, it's kind of bubbled looking. I have read about removing the thermofoil but was wondering if anyone actually has done this.  If I could remove it I would just paint them.  The only other option is new cabinets which we are trying to stay away from since we don't plan on staying here forever. Thanks!

  • I've never removed the thermofoil before, but we had thermofoil cabinets in our first condo and ours started to peel as well. I hated them! Since this is not your forever home, could you just replace the door to the cabinet(s) that are peeling?
