Good morning ladies! Sorry for the delay in post, and thank you for your understanding. The good news is that ctbaby is doing fine after his vaccinations, but ugh, I don't want to go through that again!
Congratulations to PittPurple! May this be your sticky baby. Sending you lots of positive vibes your way!
Second, Bali, you're due date is so soon! Thinking of you in the upcoming days!
How are things going for everyone? Ups? Downs?
QOTW: Just because I'm nosey. If you're a mom of 2 or more, what is the age difference between your kids? Did you plan it that way? Do you plan on having more? Moms of 1, and BBTs, do you want more than one? What is your ideal age difference?

Re: Mums, Bumps, BBTs
Ups: Besides surviving vaccinations, ctbaby did incredibly well at his doctor's appointment. He's up to 16.5 lbs. He started grabbing at soft toys and is chattering up a storm at home.
Downs: Ugh, four month old sleep! Just when naptime seemed to improve, now ctbaby wakes up at least 4 times a night now, screaming his head off. I want my baby who woke up gently for a bottle at 4:00 am back! He is also becoming a fountain of liquids. Bleh! Ctbaby didn't spit-up very often until recently. Now, I feel like we are both constantly covered in spit-up. That and drool, oh my word, if he's not spitting up, he's slobbering everywhere! How long does this phase take?
QOTW: We are so uncertain about having another. There are so many factors involved. But, if we do have another one, I want to wait until ctbaby is 3 or 4.
Hello!
Ups: We had a great week with my sister and her family over Easter. THe kids are thriving and I'm suriving the school holidays.
Downs: William is having anger issues. I'm not sure if it's due to missing people, but it started before. I'm figuring it's a phase, but it's a tricky one to deal with.
QOTW: We have just under 2.5 years between ours. I initially wanted them close together, but wasn't ready to try until William was nearly 2. So it was planned. Now I can see benefits to waiting - a friend has 3+ years between them, and on a purely practical level, has days when her daughter is at nursery school to have just her and baby time - which I struggled with, balancing the times and sharing myself between kids. I guess it would have been nice to have a school day to have just mea nd baby time, and then have more time with older child on a one-on-one basis before baby arrived... But I do like oru age difference, just see benefits to another year or two as well...
Giggle. I forgot I can post here now.
Am waiting to get my blood test results back. Impatiently. They 'should' be here by tomorrow. I just want time to pass much, much quicker.
DH and I always had plans for 2-3 years spacing but now we're just going to keep trying until we (fingers crossed) have 2 kids. I don't care about spacing anymore - if this pregnancy works out, we're waiting the minimum time possible before trying again. I really cannot believe it's taken me almost 2 years to get to this point and I'm not even anywhere yet!
BFP Apr 2012, EDD Dec 19 2012 * twin h/b at 6wk, 9wk scan * Baby A lost at 12wks, Baby B was my rainbow born at 36wks
Ups: James has been on school hoildays so we got some mornings to sleep in. I have enjoyed those.
Downs: On Monday James told DH and I that he wished we weren't his Mommy and Daddy. It stung.
QOTW: If no more curveballs are thrown at us this year, I lose enough weight and we somehow manage to buy a car then we plan on having another baby next year. There will be a 5.5 year age gap between our kids. This used to make me sad because I wanted our kids to closer in age so that they could play together, but now I see the advantages. James starts school later this year and his school day will be from 9-3 so I will have that time alone with baby. And James will be more independant, especially if my pregnancy is anything like my one before. Its kind of like having 2 only children.
Ups: DD has started to sleep for longer stretches. Of course now we're going to mess up her schedule by going to the US, but I hope she starts to STTN before too long...
Downs: Several this week. :-( As I mentioned in the other post, the follow-up u/s today was not good, and the likelihood is high that I will miscarry in the next few days/weeks. Also, DD is completely confused and scared by all the packing that's going on. She has no clue what's going on and I feel horrible for her, but today's the last day, at least.
QOTW: I'd like them to be as close together as possible, allowing for factors like extra time for c/s recovery to try to VBAC. If this pregnancy defies the odds and is viable, then I would love the spacing (19 months), but since it looks like it's not, then I guess we're looking at around 2 years difference if I can get pregnant again relatively quickly. We'd like 3-4 total, and ideally I'd like them all to be 2 years or less apart. That's just ideals, though. How it actually pans out could be a completely different story.
Ups: N is doing good and had no adverse reaction to her MMR (so thanks to everyone for the reassurances!!). Brought her to the public health nurse yesterday just for a check up and the nurse was very happy with her. She weighed in at 23lbs (50 percentile) and length of 81cm (32 inches) (95th percentile) - so she's tall and skinny!!
Downs: Exposure to chickenpox at the weekend in the form of her cousin... so we have a 2 week wait of another sort... grrrr!!!! And we are going away next Thursday for a few nights which is right in the window for symptoms to show up. And our childminder got a puppy - a bichon frise... sound familiar? That's cos our previous childminder did the same (my SIL, mother of the chickenpox kid)! DH is not too happy at all and to top it off childminder is now saying she might take 2 weeks holidays in June, rather than the previously mentioned August. June doesn't work for us as dh can't take time off then so I'm not going to waste 2 weeks holidays from work when we can't go away... And everything was going so well with this childminder and N loves her!
QOTW: N is now 13 months old and we are talking about trying again. I've said to dh that I would love to be off for maternity leave at the same time of year again as it is good for a number of reasons (longer days, sunny weather, work reasons). So we could be trying in the next few months. This would hopefully give around a 2 year gap. I'm not getting any younger... I'd be 39 when another baby was born, all going to plan.
Baby's in the jumperoo so I have some time to nest!
Ups: After doing Ferber (controlled crying) about a week and a half ago I feel that DD and I are both new people! I am not stressed from constantly having to spend 40 minutes+ rocking her to sleep for naps and at bedtime just for her to wake up 20 minutes later. I can put her down for a nap or bed and she falls asleep all by herself! This has given me time to collect myself and feel like me gain. And DD is happier because she is getting the sleep she needs.
Downs: Yesterday DD was very cranky and last night she was up every two hours. I think she was hungry every time because during the day she didn't eat. I felt I was going backwards by feeding her when she woke up (a Ferber no-no unless it's the normal feeding time -- she usually wakes up twice) but she wasn't calming down any other way and I was getting over a cold and didn't have the patience to wait it out eachtime (I feel a bit guilty about it tbh).
QOTD: We have been talking about trying again since DD was 2 months old! Crazy, right? If I weren't EBFing we my have started TTC2 already, but I have been very paranoid about supply issues. So we are going to start trying soon after we move to Germany--in about a month or so. DD will only be 6 months still and I would very much like to BF to a year, but I'm going to take the risk and if we end up quitting earlier than planned that's ok too. Also, while I'm getting my period I have the sneaking suspicion that I am not actually O'ing yet so who knows how long it will take us to get pregnant. I'm not feeling like charting this time so only time will tell. Anyway, we'd like a space of under 2 years for our first two. We'll decide if and when we want more after #2 is born.
Ups: DD pulled up for the first time the other day and has started pushing her activity table around the room!
Downs: DD is getting into everything and isn't sleeping so well...what happened to my great sleeper that I had the first 6 months??
QOTD: We're going to reevaluate having a #2 when it's getting close to time for DD to start play school (at 3). I'd like to be able to have time to give LO 2 one on one time like I have with DD. DH isn't sure if he wants a #2, he's scared that they won't be as well behaved as DD!
Downs: Our household goods are still at sea, or so it seems. While the military provides some loaner furniture (which I appreciate a great deal), I want our stuff. While I don't look forward to the actual unpacking, I am ready to make our house a home.
QOTD: We are one and done. But, in theory, I think 2 years is a good age difference. It is difficult on the parents at first, but infancy doesn't last forever!
Downs: this really has nothing to do with the pregnancy or DS but our closest friends here are leaving in ten days. Our children are 4 months apart and they're expecting their second too! I'm very very sad about it considering there is no Expat system here. I'm sad for us and for DS. His closest friend and playmate is leaving. My best friend and the only other person I really rely on other than my husband is going back to Canada.
QOTW: We knew we wanted our children close in age. When our second one is here they will be 22 months apart. It will be chaotic for a little while but hopefully that age difference will help form a special bond between the two. We are fairly certain we are done though we can't agree on how to prevent any future children. I've made it very clear I will not be taking the pill. DH is a little gun shy to get snipped.
Happy to hear CTBaby is doing well post-vaccinations!
Just FYI my actual due date is 5th of August if you would like to update.
As for having any other children - we aren't certain if we want more or not. H is an only child and is really pleased with the thought of only one. I go back and forth on it, but I think for the lifestyle we are intending and looking forward to, 1 may just be the lucky number.
Ups: Emma is so close to rolling over I think she might be rolling by the end of this week or next!
Downs: Emma is so close to rolling over...which means my baby will be mobile soon and I have yet to baby proof anything at my mom's house...
QOTW: At first DH and I wanted to TTGP this fall or early next winter. Now with our move to Aberdeen, I would like to wait until fall of '13 so I can get chance to explore more of Europe first.
Ups: I'm pregnant!
Downs: Exhaustion + jet lag is killing me.
QOTW: I'd like 2 kids and to space them around 3 years apart.
Ups: I'm so close to having this baby now, it's a great feeling that the end is in sight.
Downs: Sleeping has been horribly miserable. Between working full time and not getting enough sleep it's exhausting. Thankfully my bosses are good and let me take an afternoon off once a week if I need it.
#1-BFP 08-22-09 ~ M/C 08-31-09 at 5 weeks 6 days
#2-BFP 08-6-11 ~ Due 04/18 ~ born via c-section April 22, 2012
My Blog
Ups: he has to be coming soon right?
Downs: Im very uncomfortable and sore, I'm getting a bit emotional that I am still pregnant and now past my due date (due date was actually the 13th, I never changed it on here). If nothing happens over the weekend I got back to the dr on Monday to see what happens next.
QOTD: We will probably start trying again at about a year or so bit after that. It took us so long to get pregnant this time so who knows what will happen. I have to have a cyst removed from my ovary 3 months after he is born (unless I end up with a c-section, then they will remove it then) so maybe that will help us be able to get pregnant on our own, who knows!
Sending baby come out vibes Bail and Johlise!
Ups: It's not school holidays yet.
Downs: 2 week school holidays start next Friday. M is being a horribe 3.5 year old the majority of the time. When he is nice, he is so sweet.
QOTW: I don't want to have a second, H does. We will wait a few years and re-evaluate. So minimum time would be 5-6 years.
Could I please be included in the TTC group? Thanks. I'm hoping that my IVF stimming will start soon after a few bumpy months.
Ups - I'm really liking acupuncture and am sleeping better with it.
Downs - not knowing whether the cyst I have will get in the way of starting the stimulation phase...I find out on Friday.
As for the QOTD: I just want a healthy and happy child. One or two doesn't matter to me.
Good luck Bail and Johlise - hope you get to meet your bubs soon!!!
Ups: dd has been talking like crazy - my mouth fell open last night when she said 'change nappy?' - I love that I can tell her things now and she understands me (to an extent of course...). This weekend she said 'GRANDPA!' when skype came on and I nearly started crying - she hasn't seen my dad since Christmas (in person) so I was thrilled that she still knows who he is (and knows his name!) gawd I love skype. 8 week countdown til we go to MN - I can NOT wait
Downs: we've both been sick on and off for 3 weeks now. Stupid change of season. We had a nice restful weekend and she slept great - so knock on wood she can stay well for awhile now.
QOTW: we'd like about a 3 year age gap - and only 2 kids, so we'll get working on that later this year I guess
