  • Dear GO! St. Louis half,

I am coming to get you, watch out.

    Dear weather,

Please cooperate for Sunday and do not go all craptastic like you did last year for this race, mkay?

    Dear work email list,

Not every response needs to be "reply all." I don't need to know what you want for lunch, where you'll be when not at the meeting, or how much you're chipping in for the latest gift/donation/whatever.

Seriously, it's getting out of hand. The latest email thread has 42 replies sent reply all.

    love, me.

    Dear toenail,

please come back. I miss you. I've been able to hide your absence for a few months, but now that the weather is getting warmer, it's becoming obvious.

    Dear Thursday,

I don't like wishing my life away, but can it please be 6pm so I can get my beta results?

Please don't suck on Sunday...I need a confidence boost.

  • Dear bursitis in shoulder,

Seriously, go away, I hate you.  You're totally screwing up my bootcamp class, which I love to go to.  I hate not being able to do all of the moves.

Signed, an injured, not happy bootcamper

    Dear long run this weekend,

Please be nice to me and not suck major azz.

Signed, a runner who just wants a good long run for once

  • Dear stomach,

Please behave yourself.  Saturday's unpleasantries (and Tuesday morning's revisiting of said unpleasantries) do not need to be revisited, especially not t-minus 10 days before my half.

    xoxo,

    Me

    Dear body,

Don't get hurt.  Please don't get hurt.  Please please please.

    xoxo,

    Me

  • Dear Sunday Weather,

I am so looking forward to a good four-hour hike on the Ice Age Trail with my husband and son.  We can handle a little rain, but a nice dry day would be much better.  Thunderstorms are totally not acceptable.  Please cooperate.

  • Dear Body,

I am treating you so well yet a different part of you seems to fail each day.

My family and my classes are getting concerned when I come in with an ice pack in a different place every day.  Just 3 more days until I know my fate for regionals.  Hold it together 'til then!!

    xoxo

  • Dear Weather,

Please be nice tonight and not to cold, I do not want to freeze tonight!

    Dear Softball God's,

Please have mercy on me and not let me get hit in the face with a ball. It has been a little bit since I played Co ed, but then again I had a coach in Korea that played college ball and hit it to you like he was still playing (my cheek knows that even a bounce in the outfield can hurt).

    Dear Shoulder,

Behave tonight and do not give me any trouble. I am hoping for the strength that I had before or almost close to it.

    Signed, A nervous wreck!

  • Dear foot,

I went easy on you this week, but I'm doing boxing for real next week. And trying kickboxing, so be prepared. I know you need a pedicure. You may or may not be rewarded with one if you behave.

    Love,

    Not above bribery

    Dear Man,

Quit complaining about not running and just go for a run already. If I can hobble along with a recoverying sprained foot, you fan get out there and do it. That, or just shut up about it. Pick one.

    Love,

I'd totally be supportive if you just stopped whining.

  • Dear Body,

I'm sorry I've been so abusive, but you've spent a year holding on to this extra fat, and now that I've figured out your secret, you are going to let it all go.

     So sorry.

    Dear Weather,

If you could warm up for good, I'd be very appreciative. None of my pants or winter tops fit, and I know I can get away with sundresses most of the summer. They are more forgiving.

  • Dear body,

Please, oh, please, behave for my 10-mile run this weekend.  You hated last week's 8-mile and I wanted to die.  Please be easy on me so I can finish my run in a great mood.  I need to know running a half won't be pure misery because of you.  I just need to know.

  • Dear brain,

Yes, 3 hours and 20 minutes is a long time to run. But stop trying to tell the legs they can't do it.  They can.  And you can, too.  Suck it up, buttercup.  The next time we go this long, I'll have a bit of adrenaline to help you along, but this time it's only water.

    ****************************************

    Dear long-run partner,

Yes, I know you think I shouldn't taper like I'm going to.  Yes, for you, running 20 miles a week out from your marathon works, but you've been doing this as long as I've been alive.  It's my first time, man...let me look forward to an 8-mile long run, will ya?

    ****************************************

    Dear intestinal tract,

I'll be trying to clear you out tonight.  Cooperate, please.

  • Dear weather,

WTH??  It is April.  That means it is supposed to be in the 70s here.  Not in the 40s with wind and torrential rain.  How dare you just trample all over my first outdoor swim of the season?  I mean, honestly, if you'd been cooperative, I could have sucked it up for a 1 mile swim in 56 degree water.  But at 48 with rain and wind?  Not a chance.

    Thanks for nothing,

A non-wetsuit wearing, but still wimpy, OW swimmer

  • Dear self,

Dont punk out on the 15k race on Sunday just because you didnt pre-register. The race is a great prep for your half next month. On that note, make sure you get out and do some miles today...Ill even give you extra credit for running with the jogging stroller.

    love,

    me

    Dear Road Bike,

I know you have been tuned up and ready to ride for a month now. Im doing you, myself or my tri season any favors by having you sit in my parents garage. Hopefully I will be able to take you out for a ride next weekend.

    love,

    Lauren

  • Dear Self

Please survive the 25K race this weekend and don't let the husband lap you on his 50K.

    That is all.

  • Dear sweet baby,

Thank you for always being soothed by a) runs in the stroller, b) watching mama on the treadmill. You do know how to make me happy :) I will try to ignore the fact that you scream your head off every time we go to Target.

    Love,

A mom that is way more patient after a run

    Dear Cinco,

Time to throw Sunday's race expectations out the window. Strep + a cold + warm weather  = a just happy to finish kind of race.

I hope it cools off too! 80 is hot, the first year my dad ran it (2003), it was a bit warmer than that even and he passed out at mile 22! He wasn't such a fan of race nutrition at the time, and he is now, but it was still kind of scary.

    Good luck to your dad!

I know it was your birthday and a holiday but that does not mean you need to celebrate every night with a beer and Cadbury mini eggs!!  Your less than 4lbs from goal and after this week, it may be more like 8!  Eat healthy tomorrow on the road for work and get a run in tomorrow night.
