Nursery woes

Here's my dilema...  We recently purchased a wall stencil for our baby girl's nursery; It's sort of a damask design. We had intentions of also purchasing a wall quote stencil, as well to compliment it. (There's a particular quote we really wanted to use)  The problem is, I can't find ANYWHERE that makes actual wall quote STENCILS as opposed to the vinyl decals. You may be asking "why does she "have" to have a stencil? And the answer is because the damask design was an actual stencil and it was done in a certain shade of pink that matches the bedding so we need an actual stencil for the wall quote so we can use that same paint. Make sense? HELP!!

Re: Nursery woes

  • You could go through Etsy and order the quote in vinyl but ask the seller to send you the whole piece of vinyl- including what she would normally throw out. You could use it in reverse and put the "garbage" piece on the wall- paint in the letters and peel it off.

Also, if you have a car place near you, like a showy, race car, loud exhaust, big speaker place they usually custom make vinyl stickers and you could just ask the same.

  • I found stencilsonline.com

Otherwise try to find a local artist to free hand it?

  • Those are both really great suggestions! I am looking into them now. Thanks so much, guys  :)
  • If you know someone with a projector, you could just project it onto the wall and paint it.

This..ir you could get kinkos to blow it up really big, then cut out the letters with an exacto knife and DIY. It's actually pretty cheap to have kinkos do it (in b&w)

  • I third the projector idea.  That is how I painted my daughter's nursery mural and it worked great.

  • I would try the projector if you can find one.  Otherwise, I would print it out big and then transfer it yourself...the easiest way would be to press down hard with a ballpoint pen and see if that leaves an impression, or poke holes along the outline of the letters and rub chalk through them, color the back of the paper with pencil lead and then when you press down the lead transfers, etc...

  • I would make your own stencil using vellum.  Pick out the font you want, blow it up to the size that you want then tape it to the vellum and cut it out with an exacto knife.  A little time consuming, but not too bad.  Hopefully the quote isn't too long! :)
