IKEA Tundra flooring question
They sell the Niva floor lining - is this sufficient for sound deadening, or will we need an additional layer of something? The only other thing that IKEA sells for underneath is the plastic sheeting to go over the concrete slab/subfloor, so I was just curious.
Also, do you think the Niva lining is necessary, or something that can be skipped? Obviously it's not expensive, so we're totally willing to put up the $ for it, just curious about the extra work involved.
TIA!
Re: IKEA Tundra flooring question
We had to use the Spaara sheeting (the thin blue plastic) because we are on a slab. I don not know if it is necessary if you aren't.
We used the Niva underlayment on top of the Spaara liner. I haven't ever installed laminate without it (we've done 90% of our house in Tundra) but I've never heard of not using underlayment. It not only helps with sound but also gives some cushioning. It is really really easy to lay down (and you can't get it for cheaper anywhere else) so I'd highly recommend.
