Were they able to catch it pretty early?  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Yeah, he was first diagnosed three years ago (I think) and then it was another year and a half until he was in remission. So he was still in the check up every three months phase of cancer treatment.

My mom just called and apparently, the areas where his cancer is now preclude him from surgery or radiation. His treatment is limited to chemo and a study drug that might keep the cancer from returning. However, because it returned so soon and because of the location, it's likely it will keep returning.

HAB, I know some docs are fans of cyberknife. Not sure if that is an option for your dad.

Also, I don't know his treatment history but this trial is currently enrolling http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00724503 ; it uses these conjugated microspheres to deliver radiation to non-resectable liver mets. Again, I have no idea where is mets are or whether he's had prior chemo but I wanted to at least pass it on.  Don't hesitate to get in touch if I can track down additional info on trials or stuff.

    Thinking of you all.

  • He did have chemo before. They did chemo first and then radiation. I'm pretty sure he is being enrolled in a clinical trial now as I know he did one last go round too.

Thank you so much for the info, epphd. I'll pass it on.
