Re: From the Not-at-all-Surprising Files...

  • Yep, totally and completely shocking. Confused
  • *snickers*

I got this e-mail yesterday from MH.

"So, did you hear? MS is ranked highest for teen pregnancy. I was talking to my mom yesterday about it and how vocal you were about free birth control at Thanksgiving last year with my dad. haha She told me to tell you, that she's mad at you for having to listen to my dad *** about the statistic all day."

     I can't say that I'm not proud.

  • Well I am at least glad to hear that the rate is continuing to drop, whatever they teach in the schools.

I am sure Texas is near the the top of the highest, but I didn't see a breakdown on the links for that study.    There's always some pregnant teens at my H's school every year but it has gotten better the past year or two.    There were more than 15 of them one semester back in '09!  Tongue Tied

    That's just sad.

I don't recall anyone at my high school being pregnant all 4 years I was there (at least none that were openly pregnant, I'm sure there were probably ones that just weren't showing or had abortions, etc)

At least the rate is dropping overall.

    Wow!

Pregnancies were out of control at my school. We had sex ed (with contraception!) in 9th grade and there were two pregnant girls in my class. Perhaps they should have taught it a bit earlier? Confused

Also, my jr. year both our Homecoming and Prom queens were pregnant. Yay role models!
