Originally the pad her of her paw was irritated, inflamed and bleeding, so we took her to the vet and he gave her anti-biotics, the cone of shame and wrapped it up to protect it. Now that part is fine, but her dew claw is irritated.
I'm not sure if it's from the bandage/latex or if it something else. I spoke with the vet and he said to try soaking it in Epsom salt and see if it gets any better. If not call him back.
It seems to be getting a little bit better, but I'm wondering if you ladies know of anything else we could try?
Thanks!
Re: Irritated Dew Claw
put some neosporin on it.
I would put the cone on or bandage it back up so she can't lick it all off right away. It really shouldn't cause her any problems to lick it, it just won't do the paw any good if she does
Neosporin! I guess I didn't know if you could put that on dogs.
We have been keeping the cone on her when we aren't with her to prevent her from futher irritating it by licking. It's been 2 weeks now
But don't worry, she gets lots of extra love and snuggles cause we feel so bad.
Thanks for the advice!
You can also use bacitracin.
Your Frenchie is so adorable! I just lub her! (I have one of my own!)
