Do you find it difficult to post rather than lurk as a reg on other boards?
I lurk on ML and P&CE but feel like a dufus trying to start posting. Do you do an intro post? Do you just start posting and hope people don't view you as the weirdo that walks up to a group of friends in a bar and starts laughing and shooting the shiit? It's such a stupid thing to overthink, but I do so I just lurk.
It's just so cozy knowing the feel of your own board!
Re: Do you find it difficult to post rather than lurk as a reg on other boards?
Always lurk before you post, and you should figure out what's standard. Some boards require intros, others don't. Generally, for P&CE, you should just jump in.
I don't read ML, so I have no idea what's standard there.
I've lurked on P&CE for a few years now and recently (the past year) ML. I should be more mindful of intro posts and what not, I usually just skim for interesting topics then come back here. But it is so slow here ( I know, change it if you don't like it but who wants to be the only one posting constantly? ) that I just keep venturing over to take a glance.
Since P&CE is my home, I say quit lurking and start posting!
A good way to intro is to start a thread, but not an intro thread, about a good topic.
Good idea! Most news headlines as of late make me want to shake someone, throw my computer, etc.
Just make sure you indicate why you're posting. You don't want to show up with something that enrages you and have us all thinking you agree
Just, please, avoid the mommy wars. I'm sick of those posts. I've barely posted this week b/c of it.
I feel the same exact way.
I lurk all the time on MM and did an intro with the old SN, but feel weird posting now. I always find myself reading other boards, hitting reply and then remembering I'm not a 'reg' there.
I post on MM sometimes. I very rarely post on P&CE even though I'm a politics junkie. Something put me off there once, a really long time ago, and I only check it maybe once a week.
Really though, I look at it as all boards are the nest (as they say on TIP), and if I'm really bored, I'll read all over the place and post where I want. I'm not into ML though, I don't get all the friendships/inside jokes.
I want to slam my face into a wall just browsing through the breast vs bottle, working vs. sahm posts. OMFG. This shiit is EVERYWHERE. It is stupid. Period.
The most beautiful place on earth to me: Glacier NP

I post here and on NBC, but here WAY more. I am not quite "in" with the NBC crowd yet. But I love lurking on P&CE and TIP. I don't have the cojones to man up and post on those boards yet. But I love them.
And Lemon, if you ever leave us, I may cry. True story.
I'm using the "My brother is in the military so I'm staying as a sibling" line. And I work for AAFES. That's DOD employee, right?
Works for me...
Bahah. Styme has no military affiliation other than living in a military town, Mandy(when she's around) isn't affiliated, I mean her DH is a DoD Contractor but yeah, we don't so much care around these parts sweetie. You're always welcome.
