Weird article on eating at restaurants
Six rules for dining out
I went to this expecting it to be common sense, but a lot of it is odd advice, and borderline racist.
One of his tips is that people shouldn't be having too much fun.
Another is that Vietnamese food is better than Thai food lately because Thai people have a good service ethic so try to meet their American customers' preferences, which is for overly sweetened dishes.
Re: Weird article on eating at restaurants
OMG, I'm only this far, but seriously??
"I also start to worry if many women in a restaurant are beautiful in a trendy or stylish way. The point is not that beautiful women have bad taste in food. Instead, the problem is that they will attract a lot of men to the restaurant, whether or not the place serves excellent food. And that allows the restaurant to cut back on the quality of the food."
LOL: I also start to worry if many women in a restaurant are beautiful in a trendy or stylish way.
What a bizarre, snooty article.
What a fcuucking jackass.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
He seriously wants you to choose a place because they exploit their workers? WTF. What an assinine article.
And Vietnamese is huge here in Houston.
So Tasty, So Yummy
I've been reading Tyler Cowan's dining guide for almost a decade. His experience is based on being a foodie interested in "ethnic" food in the DC area. I generally agree with his rules. It's true that most Thai in the US isn't good and is sickeningly sweet. I make better Thai at home than most of the trendy Thai places in the Dc area.
And it's true that restaurants that have a big scene full of the "beautiful people" sometimes have crap food because people don't go there for the food. It doesn't mean pretty people are stupid. I go to sceney places sometimes but it is not for he foodie experience. It's to hang out and drink overpriced cocktails.
