Dwarf Bushes for Zone 5?

I'm looking to replace my holly bushes. I want something that stays about 3ft high and doesn't need to be trimmed often (once a year is fine). It also has to be able to live in Zone 5 or cooler. Any ideas?

ETA: its gotta be something that can sit in a mound of snow all winter and be fine - so no azalea bushes or things that you gotta put a cover on in the winter.

Re: Dwarf Bushes for Zone 5?

  • The side its on is south-west-ish facing and gets full sun and the wind. I'm now thinking the pygmy globe arborvitae since they are so darn hands off. I also liked the sweetspires and the summer sweet clethra but I'm not sure how they'd do in lots of snow. I think a dwarf boxwood is a contender too.
