How does your garden grow?
Tell me about your loverly gardens. I know you've got them and it's been so warm, you must have something to show for it by now.
What did you plant?
Any signs of life?
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
Re: How does your garden grow?
My winter garden was pretty failtacular, so when I get done pulling up the last of my headless cabbage, lignfied kohlrabi, and Brussels sprout twigs, I'm going to plant:
Two kinds of carrots
Eggplant (have to start these inside, whoops)
These neat tiger-striped zucchini
Crookneck squash
Lemon and regular cucumbers (we have discovered Baby Fuss loves these)
Ancho chiles (which never grow, but I try every year)
Tomotoes: Red grape, yellow pear, some purple heirloom ones, and something else I forgot
The herb garden is still going pretty strong from last year, but I am redoing the parsley and adding sage
By far, however, the best addition to the garden this year has been the motion-activated sprinkler. Take that, stupid cats!
I have an aloe plant on my balcony
and a cactus by my sink.
I water them once a week.
My strawberry plants survived the winter.
The rest of my garden is still at the garden centers or in seed packets.
I will be planing sugar snap peas, carrots and lettuce in the next week or two depending on the weather.
Wow, Fuss! I want!
What is a lemon cucumber? Does it taste different or just look different?
I'm getting ready to replant my herbs. yay!
They mainly just look different. Like lemons.
Pretty!
IF YOU FOLLOW MY BLOG then you'd know all about my garden. SO THERE DOOOEEET!
Okay, shameless plug over, yesterday, I razed half of last year's failed garden and planted bibb lettuce, red pepper, zucchini, squash, cucumber, and watermelon.
Today, I razed the other half and when it cools down a bit, I will return and plant green and yellow zucchini, broccoli, and the rest of the bibb lettuce. Lucy fuucked up the watermelon plant so that's out unless I buy another plant.
I also have some seeds I want to plant but I'll be damned if I remember what I picked up. Mostly flower seeds but I think I bought carrots, spinach, peas, and beans. I probably shouldn't plant from seed so late here but I'm gonna give it a try anyway.
OH! I forgot about my container gardens. I have two flower pots with dusty miller, petunias, stock, violas, and vinca. I also have one flower pot with three ranunculus plants in it. I'd post pics but we're between blooms. There are also three strawberry plants with two whole strawberries on them. My basil was a victim of slugs so I bought a new one and intend to bring it inside at night to hopefully keep it healthy. The tarragon, thyme, oregano, and rosemary are all doing just fine though.

They grew too fast; it was real warm in March.:(
I'm pretty glad we didn't plant anything yet. Our weather the last four days: 50 on Friday, 76 on Saturday, 52 (although it was up to 75 for a few hours) with hail, torrential rain, and tornadoes yesterday, and today it's snowing. Snowing.
Only in Minnesota.
Last year I had basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. This year I picked up tarragon.
I used them all, tarragon the least but I use a lot of the tarragon in my cabinet so I imagine when my tarragon grows a bit more, I'll be more comfortable with raiding it.

I just picked up my herb garden stuff this weekend and have yet to get it set up. I'm doing our top three - cilantro, basil, and dill. One can never have enough dill. I put it in everything.
