The realtor's description says "I promise you have never seen a house like this before."
And he/she would be VERY right.
From the outside, it's not a terrible looking house:
but the kitchen cabinets are missing (maybe a foreclosure?):
They painted the ceilings RED (OMG, how many coats of paint is it going to take to cover up THAT decision?):
The dining room appears to be soda-shop themed, complete with gold-painted trim and coke wallpaper border:
There's a bathroom with MICKEY tile:
I don't even know WHAT to say about this:
This bedroom is nautical themed, complete with built in boat, deck attached to boat, and some sort of beach-bar thing on the right:
And finally, the master is four different colors with a wallpaper mural:
The realtor was right. I've never seen another house like that. Nor would I want to again.
Re: OMG - you guys, this house ... (Lots of PIPs)
Holy Moly!!! Have fun selling that!!!
I'm just imagining the home improvement blog of its future owner. You have to admit it'd be gold.
It's actually in our price range, but it is at the high end and would be a nearly 50-minute commute for H. Andplusalso - I love DIY, but ... there's no freaking WAY I'd pay to redo every thing in that house.
Holy randomness batman!
WTH?!
ok...so i kinda love some of the possibilities it has. Love the molding in the master. And a blank kitchen is a dream! Oh, and our home had gold trim, deep plum walls and red ceilings. We hired out the paining. Best.Decision.Ever.
LOL - it's yours. $300k, located approximately 1 hour drive from Sacramento. 4BR/3BA, 3500 sq ft on 3 acres.
There's potential there, but its too close to the top of our price range and too long a commute to make it worth our while. If it was $50k cheaper and ... you know, about 20 minutes closer ...
If they had a showing of this on House Hunters, I would actually agree with the people if they said they couldn't get past the paint colors.
Holy smokes!!!
OMG is right. I mean we bought an UGLY house (on the inside) but that is absurd. Is it a foreclosure or something? ETA: missed the kitchen picture the first time so I hope it is a foreclosure.
I mean really.. just to leave it like that and try to sell.
As that realtor, I'd take my own money and have it painted. I mean, that's really the easiest way to sell the house and at least tone it down. There's nothing to do with that Mickey tile though
It's near Colfax. Actually more than 1/2 hour from me, but I like to "wander around" the RE listings when I'm bored. LOL
Ditto. Just...what?
I'm just hoping that those are Mickey appliques and that the Walt Disney corporation never lost enough sense to authorize its star character to be used on bathroom tile.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
If really is a foreclosure, then it makes me pretty sad. Like it or hate it, it was obviously a lot of work and a labor of love. I mean, can you imagine how long it took to faux paint the ceiling? I can't imagine.
Obviously I'd make none of the choices that owner made, but it must have been hard for them to walk away after all that effort.
I may be crazy, but none of this would have bothered me when house hunting. Of course, we were looking for a good deal and were fine tackling big projects. As long as a house was structurally sound, nothing cosmetic was a deal breaker.
The hardwood floors are beautiful, the exterior is cute, and from the pictures the living space seems to have a nice layout.
I actually like the nautical themed room and think my son would have a blast with his own personal ship in his bedroom
I seriously would keep the bedroom like that except for the carpet. The rest of the house, though, would be getting a make over ASAP. Although, heck, if the Mickey bathroom is off of a kid's room and not the master or the main guest bath, I might even keep that, too!

We were told it would cost close to $10,000 to have a whole house painted (it was wallpapered). Not worth it for a real estate agent.
