I would say we, but it was solely my debt. I got into a bad credit card habit in grad school (thanks to some unexpected dental work) and then could never quite get back out of it (graduate stipend was enough to cover living expenses & then my post-doc salary - student loans was about the same as my graduate stipend). I didn't always make the best financial choices (but I really do not regret the trips I took while I had the time to do so!). I am just happy they are finally paid off.
I would love to be able to say it was due to some great budgeting or windfall or something. But nope. I make more than I did before we got married & DHs salary covers the majority of our household expenses. I was slowly paying things off- but got serious about it last June.
I can't believe how excited I was this afternoon when I submitted that final payment!!
Our next goal is to pay off my car, then build up a bigger emergency fund & then pay down my student loans!!
Re: AW- I am finally credit card debt free!!
Congrats! How awesome!
If I put the majority of my paycheck towards my student loans (which I don't plan on doing- interest rates are 2.5% & 4.5%); I can pay them back in 2 years. But I anticipate more like 4-5 years, paying 2x as much as I am scheduled to & saving the rest (and buying grown up furniture and hopefully some baby furniture!).

Great job!!!! I know what it's like getting into a bad habit with credit cards, that's why I don't even carry one with me anymore I did the same thing.
