Talk to me about countertops
After renting out our house for four years, and since it has the chance to be completely empty, we're doing some renovations in our house. One of which is new countertops.
So, tell me. What is great about your countertops? Or what is your dream countertop? What about colors? Right now I'm leaning towards granite and looking for a color that is a neutral base color with bits of other colors to include red.
Re: Talk to me about countertops
Right now we have laminate counter tops that I built myself out of sheet laminate - for cost purposes because we bought our house cheap, it will never be worth a whole lot, and I didn't want to spend more than what I could get back out of it. The plusses? Well, I got brand new counter tops in the kitchen for about $300.
My dream counter top would probably be soapstone. Possibly unpolished, matte finish granite. I just really like the look of the matte finish rather than the shiny look of regular granite.
My dream countertops are Soapstone
I have wood for my kitchen island and I like that!
I have some old laminate type stuff on my countertops that isn't nice but I know they make much nicer laminate countertops now
We currently have marble, which I love. I have had both granite and Corian in the past, both were fine.
My dream is also soapstone, it is so beautiful and reminds me of my HS chem lab.
So Tasty, So Yummy
I also have granite, we just redid our kitchen actually. I love the granite, but my only problem is it is so strong. If you put something down too hard like a plate or wine glass it will break. I've already broken 2 plates, 2 spoon rests and a glass. Well my husband has, he tends to not be very delicate when doing dishes haha.
We have quartz - it's similar to granite, but is man-made. Also, it doesn't require resealing, which is nice.
I love having the abilty to roll out/knead doughs directly on the countertop. Also, I can set hot pans directly onto the countertop, which has been very helpful in the past!
