I ordered several pieces of furniture recently. A World Market media cabinet came with one piece broken so they shipped out a replacement. Dh put it together. I filled it with books and made the top display all sorts of pretty. Then I proceeded to put together eight, yes World Market eight chairs and a WM pub table and a WM bench and...
And then I realized that the replacement media cabin has a friggin crack in the wood of the top piece! Grrr! I paid $400 incl tax and shipping! No way am I going to disassemble that thing for them to pick it up and send yet a third replacement. No way. I hope they'll send just the replacement piece which will probably take 8 weeks to come in which I can live with. But we'll probably have to disassemble the whole thing again to get the top piece anyway.
We also have boxes sitting outside our front door waiting to be picked up by overstock for yet another damaged item that we're just returning, not replacing. They've been there for days. Classy.
I'm so over putting furniture together. Over it. Next time I'm hiring a decorator. I really didn't have the budget to go all out with white glove delivery service and Dh and I are perfectly capable of putting this stuff together. But the returns and hassles are almost not worth it!
oh well, i'm pretty much out of decorating funds at this point so only expecting a couple more pieces then we done. Oh wait, no...then it is time to finish the nursery.
Yikes...I think I need a vacation from decorating.
Re: World Market has failed me - vent
gosh, i am so sorry you have had such a bad experience with them! we've gotten so many pieces from there w/o any issues (table, chairs for dining room; media cabinet, cube ottomans w/storage w/in them, a tall/narrow chest of drawers for the master bedroom).
i will recommend full inspection of all pieces before assembly going forth. that way you won't have so much expended energy before discovering faults in the product. it really isn't their fault if you go ahead an assemble before discovering the defect and it amplifies your discontent (rightly so), to discover it at that point.
