washer and dryer recs?

we need to buy a washer and dryer before we move into our new place next weekend (woo hoo!)

 

Anyone have any recommendations? I want front loaders so I can eventually do something like this 

 

 

But we've never bought this kind of thing before and, to be honest, our trip to the appliance place was overwhelming to say the least. 

 

Anyone have a recommendation?

My CW has little ones and said that she hated having a front-load washer.  She missed being able to just throw stuff into the washer, rather than bending over to place things in the washer.  This may not be a huge concern for you, but I would think it's easier to use a top-load washer.
