workout pant recommendations?

I like a looser fitting pant/capri - nothing lycra or suction-ey at all.

I'm a bigger girl, so when I run all the jiggling makes my pants slide down and I am forever hiking them up. Right now I have a pair of lulu lemon be still pants, and a pair of gap pants -both have drawstrings that I cinch tight but they still slide constantly.

I am not confident enough to squeeze my fat self into anything that is tight fitting, but I need something that will actually stay up! Any recommendations? I haven't tried a pair of fold over waist band pants but I would imagine those would not be good for falling down either and I need something with a good waistband.

Re: workout pant recommendations?

  • If they are sliding down, you are probably wearing them too big.  I absolutely LOVE my Lululemon Wunder Unders, I have 3 pairs.  They are form fitting, but so well made that they hold in all the jiggle very well, and they actually make me look slimmer than I really am.  Also they aren't suction-tight at all, they are very comfy and just fit really well.

    Good luck in your search!

  • I am surprised someone would recommend Lululemon Wunder Unders for a person that doesn't want tight fitting clothing. Heh... well, if you like lululemon, the Still Pant is great. It's being currently on sale (they are getting rid of the style) on their website under "We made too much". I would also look at Lucy which has some good workout pants. If you like the lululemon style but not the price, Nordstrom has very similar style for less cost. They also have some plus sizes in their brand Zella.

  • I get a lot of my workout stuff from Old Navy and Target's C9 line.  The yoga style pants are pretty flattering.  Also, I love the Gap pants with and without the drawstring.  I find that if they are a little form fitting when you get them they do mold to your body as you wear them.  I'd err on the side of going a little snugger this time when you buy.
  • Try Xersion brand at JCP. They have a whole affordable line of regular workout pants, sweat pants, more track type pants and yoga style.

I freakin' love them and the price is right. I pretty much live in some variation of that brand when I'm home or running!

  • You probably need to size down if they are falling off. I am a fan of Gap Relaxed fit pants but I find they run a bit big and I had to size down. I originally started buying workout pants at Gap because they come in lengths and I have been very happy with them.
