Need a pretty paint color

I am moving into my new house this weekend and want to paint the bedrooms before the carpet is replaced. I got this new bedding set and want to paint with a nice complementary color that isn't a shade of brown. The room is 15x20 with vaulted ceilings and am considering the idea or just doing a feature wall with the rest a neutral off-white.

Any color recommendations? We are probably going to go to Lowe's for paint since it's a mile from my house, so Valspar colors preferred.

Re: Need a pretty paint color

  • That looks like it's all brown/cream, right?  You could do anything--neutrals don't really narrow the field.  I would start by considering what else will go into the room.  What tone is the wood furniture?  What will you hang on the walls?  What will the window treatments look like?  Will there be an area rug or other textiles to consider?  Then pick something that goes with those other things.

Take a spin through the paint bio (link in sig) and see if anything strikes your fancy.  PS - even if you buy Valspar paint at Lowe's, you can use any brand's color.  Just bring the chip with you, and they can match it.

  • We are completely starting over in the room with all new yet-to-be-purchased furniture, mattress, curtains, etc. so I don't even know where to start. All I have is bedding.

I am usually great at making decisions, but there are too many paint colors to choose from.
