Reason #897

not to have kids...

I went to a baby shower this weekend, and OMG, the sheer amount of stuff associated with having a baby is overwhelming.

Also, during the shower, they were passing around a thing where you could write parenting tips for the mother and father to be. I passed it along and said that my advice would have been more appropriate about 7 months ago.

  • bahahhaa, good one on the advice!

And yes, the sheer amount of "necessities" that it takes even before they get here is enough to overwhelm anyone.     That's not even including all the cutesy stuff that just gets spit up on and tossed in the garbage, hah.

Kudos to you for surviving a baby shower, I know those can be torture.

  • Most of the "necessities" for a baby are not really necessities. What you actually have to have: somewhere for said baby to sleep, some means of feeding baby, and a carseat. Also, some clothes.  People go overboard.
  • Yes to this entire post.
