So, hubby and I applied for another dog this past week and we got turned down. No big deal, it wasn't because there was anything wrong with us, another home was just a better fit.
Well, I was contacted by two different people suggesting if we're still interested in adopting to look at this other dog. I did and she seems great -- well, except that she ALSO has allergies (our current dog Dozer has the WORST allergies I've ever encountered).
Supposedly, her allergies are pretty well maintained, but I'm not sure about another dog with allergies. I mean, Dozer is awesome. Well trained, super smart, etc... his only imperfection is his allergies. And I'd feel bad for this other dog getting passed over yet again, because she's pretty awesome too.
Am I making this a bigger deal than it is? Maybe I just want someone to talk me into it, I don't know...
Dozer and potential new dog are the same age and I'd think they'd be a good match personality wise.
I just want your opinions, please!
Re: Getting another dog?
Since you already have experience with a dog that has allergies, I think you're a great fit for her
You know what's best for you. If you don't want another dog with allegies, don't get her.
There will be others that will take her.
Thanks, all! I e-mailed her foster mom for more info on how bad her allergies actually are.
Hubby and I will discuss it tonight. I'll keep you all posted.
For the record - I can handle a couple benedryl a day. I can't handle putting a second dog on allergy injections. I'm drawing a line!
