Never thought....

I would have to puppy proof my back yard to keep a puppy out.  Our neighbors down the road has a bunch of dogs and puppies and they really do not feed them. They have about 15 dogs 3 are tied and they have to fight over left over scrapes.

I just had to rig my fence to keep one of their puppies out because she is coming up here to eat and leaves. But the problem was she could get in the fence but not out.  I would love to keep her because she is great with the boys and they play well together. But I just do not want to have another pet or the responisbility of having a puppy.  Yes call me heartless but we will be moving to who knows where around Sept. and trying to find a house is going to be hard.

  • Does your city/county have leash laws and/or tethering laws? I would absolutely call Animal Control if your neighbors aren't (1) properly containing their pets and (2) not adequately feeding them.

After trying to call on their other dog who was in my yard growling at me trying to get into my car, they told me that since we are 25 feet from the county line they can not do anything. The county does not have animal control.

Do you have any other 'dangerous dog/animal' laws or anything regarding the animals?  Cause if so, I'd call the cops every time then.  Or find the regional humane society/SPCA... there has to be some authority somewhere over pets/animals in your area.  It can't just be a wild no man's land of do whatever you want... esp. when it comes to tying them up and not feeding them.

Our problem is living in a very very small town, our nearest walmart is 30min away, with a small police department.  If I call the county they tell me to call the city, if I call the city they tell me to call the county.  Bascially they are lazy, the only thing that they have told me is shoot them.

  • Pm me if you live in VA.  You need to call animal control of there is insufficient food.  Please.  If they're fighting over it some of the dogs are starving and will starve to death.  I've worked on cases like that and it is more horrible than I can describe.

At least feed the puppy.  You don't have to keep her in your yard but feed her.  I'd also photograph the dogs and pass them along.  Depending where you are I can maybe help you with AC or your prosecutors office.
