Bead Board Kits?

DH and I decided we'd like to do bead board in the new nursery. I was under the impression that there were bead board kits that you could buy that included the trim with a lip the bead board fit into, however both Home Depot and Lowe's employees look at me like I have two heads when I ask about kits. They both show me the huge 8 foot sheets and say that's all they have.

I have no idea where I got the impression that there were kits, so maybe I'm wrong. Has anyone ever heard of them or know where to find them? If I'm wrong, what would we need to install the sheets ourselves? The room has baseboard and a chair rail, but I'm assuming we'd have to remove and get new with gooves to fit the bead board.

Re: Bead Board Kits?

  • We have wainscoting in our bathroom that we ordered in kits online.

  • I've never heard of a kit for that either, but I don't really see how you'd need one. It's a pretty straight forward install... you just set the board on top of the existing trim and nail it in. Then you place the chair rail on top and nail that in, and caulk the seams & paint. It doesn't have to fit into any grooves.
