ME peeps--Oman

If I wanted to visit Oman, where would you suggest adding it to, Dubai or Abu Dhabi? Or somewhere else? We're putting together rough travel ideas for next year and H really wants to go to the ME. At the moment we've only been to Egypt.

I have a friend that lives in Oman, and I'd LOVE to visit.  No idea on where else to go, but I fully intent to live vicariously through you and your DH!

Jealous. I remember being in awe when I saw Britsluna blog posts about there trip to Oman. They rented a car and the pictures were gorgeos.

I would say Dubai but you can also do a night in Abu Dhabi.  It's less than an hour drive (if you are renting a car) or you can take a taxi for a decent rate.

It seems like Dubai is the consensus.  How long do you think we'd need and is there anything particularly fun we should do there?

Thanks for the blog links on Oman.  I am seriously dying to get there.  Fortunately since H is the one who really wants to go to the Arabian Peninsula (as far as he knows), I get to make the trip all on my terms.

How long is your trip in total? I think 4-5 days in Dubai would be good, especially if you decide to do a night in Abu Dhabi.

I have a bunch of recs for Dubai - my favorites are Friday boozy brunch at the Fairmont (if you can plan to be there on a Friday, this is the expat thing to do)! I'd also suggest Burj Khalifa if you feel like being touristy, and Barasti on the beach for hanging out in the evening! Oh! And Automatic for good, inexpensive lebanese food!
