Owners of a Bosch Dishwasher

If you have had your Bosh dishwasher for awhile now do you still love it?

I saw a few years ago that everyone was recommending them. Now that my dishwasher is on its last legs and my dishes are comming out dirtier than they are going in. (I practically wash them before sticking them in Sad ) I was just wondering if everyone who had one would still recommend the same one?

 Thanks

Re: Owners of a Bosch Dishwasher

  • Have you cleaned the filter?  You have to clean the filter manually on a Bosch dishwasher - I think that's one of the reasons they're so quiet (most American-made dishwashers have an automatic filter cleaner).
  • Do you have a Bosch now or are you looking to buy one? I can't tell from you post.

We've had ours for about 2 years and I am happy with. At first I found it hard to load efficiently, but I've gotten used to it and think I can put a lot of stuff in it. It is quiet and I think it cleans well. As the PP mentioned, if dishes are coming out dirty it is usually because the filter needs cleaned. It's not always obviously that the filter is gross, sometimes grease gets in it and that's the problem.

My only real complaint about the Bosch is that I think the SS panel on the front is kind of cheap. Maybe ours is a dud, but the panel isn't fully attached, so if I press hard when I'm cleaning it has give to it. (Like the SS panel is separate from whatever is underneath.) It's not really a problem, but I find it annoying.

BTW, we got a great deal on ours by getting a discountinued model at a mom & pop shop. We got a much nicer model for less than the big box stores wanted for an entry level model.

  • We have had ours for a little over a year.  It is quieter than our old one, and we got a good deal on it.  In our model, I think the slots for plates and bowls are too close together, just my opinion.  No other problems with it.

  • My sister has one and it is a piece of garbage!  Like PP said, the slots for plates and bowls are too close together, and they are made out of a really cheap plastic.  It is constantly coming off the track.  Just a bad bad machine. And although it is super quiet, once it is done running, it has a beep every minute or so until you open it.  So if you happen to run it before going to bed, know that you are going to have to either listen to beeping all night long, or get out of bed to turn it off.  Annoying!

  • My parents have one, and like that it's super quiet, and it cleans really well, but there's something about the way the racks are designed, or maybe the utensil holder or something, but it just doesn't seem to fit as many dishes as my craptastic, sounds like a freight train Frigidaire dishwasher.

This sounds model specific. Our racks are sturdy (they aren't plastic) and roll in/out easily and it makes no beeping sounds at all (or any other sounds, for that matter). Has she tried to turn the beep off? Usually those things can be disabled.

  • I don't own one, but they are smaller than most other dishwashers, and the sales guy at one of the stores we went to mentioned that they put the pins closer together for plates to try and make up for it, so you can supposedly put more plates in.
  • I have one, it's only been installed for about 6 weeks, but so far I love the thing. It's super quiet if it didn't have the floor light I wouldn't know it was running. Dishes come out clean and while the racks are a bit different they hold a lot.

  • I have a Maytag now looking to buy a bosch

The beep can be turned off or made louder or softer on all bosch models.  Our bosch came with our house and at first it did the beep.  I contacted the previous owners and they said there was no way to turn it off.  That didn't make sense to me so I contacted bosch directly.  There is a series of button pushes to mute the sound.  It takes literally 30 seconds to adjust--- you should have your sister try it:

Open door, push and hold Delicate/Econo button, then turn the dishwasher on while holdingDelicate/Econo button.Release Delicate/Econo button.If module beeps, then end of cycle tone is on. Press Delicate/Econo button to disable tone.If module doesn?t beep after button is pressed, then tone is disabled.Turn off dishwasher to save selection.Ta da!

  • And to answer OPs question.  We have one of the SHE models.... not sure which. It is stainless and has a stainless steel tub.  It is literally whisper quiet, cleans really well (No need to prerinse) and has been great for the three years we have lived in the house (plus the one that the previous owners used it).  Our racks are coated metal and have no problem fitting our oversize dishes.  We do have to make sure that we keep it full of jet dry rinsing agent, otherwise plastic sippy cups do tend to stay a bit wet.

If you are interested, literally take your dishes to the store and try them out.

I would buy the machine again in a hot second.

  • We had one in our old home and I loved it. I know people are complaining about the way the racks are spaced, but like anything, once you use it enough times, you learn to utilize the space in a way that is the most efficient.

We never pre-rinsed anything and everything came out really clean, plus it was whisper quiet.

Ours was going on 8 years with no issues and the new owners love it as well.

  • I'm glad others mentioned that you don't have to pre-rinse. (I think the manual actually suggested NOT to pre-rinse, but I could be wrong.) I love that about ours.

You can use vinegar as a finishing agent instead of buying a commercial brand.

We also have one of the SHE models w/ SS tub and coated metal racks.

  • Our house came with a Bosch dishwasher that we've been using and loving for about 6.5 years now.  I have no idea what model it is but it holds tons of dishes (we pack that sucker to the gills before running it), cleans really well, is quiet, and overall seems to be of great quality.

I've read on these boards before that you have to clean out the filter manually but we've never had to do this in all the time we've been using it.  I have no complaints at all about this machine.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Love ours.  Super quiet, and I haven't had any trouble loading it.
