So I was watching HIMYM... (clicky poll)

and it was when Marshall and Lily got back together. Ted and Barney walked by and saw them sitting on the stoop all smiley/happy. Ted sat down next to them and hugged them both and kissed Lily on the cheek.

Which made me think...
Do any of YH's (or SOs) friends kiss you? This doesn't include family. I can't think of any of H's friends that have done this but in HS I had a BF who's friend used to kiss me on the cheek all the time, but he'd also headbutt me sometimes too... (Crazy Romanian kid named Vlad...)

  • SS - I rarely see DH's friends because I don't particularly care for them.
I think the relationship in the show is different though. They've been bffs for years that kind of relationship is already established.

I might suckerpunch DH's friends if they kissed me ::vomit::

  • I chose yes. I feel like I kiss everyone. On the lips, on the cheeks. Just friendly pecks, but apparently it's not common?

I'm Italian - hugging and kissing is a way of life. Many of DH's boyfriends are my boyfriends as well and so we all kiss and hug each other. I even kiss some of my female friends on the cheek or the lips.

  • Yes.

I'm a touchy-feely kind of person and I've grown up with MH friends. Hell, they're some of my closest friends too. They are the reason we met.

We hang out if H isn't able to and vise versa, so a display of affection isn't too far fetched. H knows he's my one and only.

This. And I would bleach my face if they tried it.

  • I hug just about everybody though.

I am more of a hugger too.

  • H's friends, heck no! I'm repulsed by a few of them so I would be thoroughly grossed out if they did that.

However, his male cousin does kiss me on the cheeks when we see each other.

My BF does kiss my husband on the cheeks when they see each other.

  • My H has a couple of Italian and/or Spanish friends, who have all kissed my cheek. It seems like the natural progression for them, because I pretty much hug everyone, and when they realized that I was comfortable with that, they'd kiss my cheek. The funniest was watching one of his friends apologize a million times, because he had done it without thinking, even though I (and my H) kept telling him it was no big deal.

I do have to say that I have to initiate a hug first, or I may start swinging...

  • I'm surprised it's 50/50.

I'm a hugger. But I turn away when someone other than FI tries to kiss me. Cheek is bearable from others, but I make sure it's the cheek! And that's generally from older women in the family.

  • Yes, quite often. I feel like this is a regional/cultural thing as it's usually MH's frat brothers (i.e. wealthy, New Englander, "sophisticated") who do this. Their wives give the double air-kiss. You know the type. Stick out tongue

  • We both have European friends and have traveled to Europe to see them, where it is customary and normal to greet eachother with cheek kisses, so it's perfectly normal to us!

  • I voted No.

They are definitely more of the hugging type.

This.  I would be very weirded out if one of DH's friends kissed me in any way, lol.

  • Most of H's friends are Italian and Greek.  Pretty much every Italian and Greek person I've met kiss cheeks with a sorta half hug, even the women.  I dont mind it at all and actually prefer it to a full front on hug.
