Migraine sufferers - I need ideas
Generally my migraines are hormonal, but I woke up today with an awful one (total wrong time of the month) and my normal regimen to get rid of it isn't working. Usually, some aspirin and coffee along with getting some food in my stomach works, but not today. I'm stuck at work and seriously want to just crawl in a hole and die right now. Any other things that work for you when the normal stuff doesn't work? Unfortunately, I nap isn't an option, which is what I think I really need.

Re: Migraine sufferers - I need ideas
Ugh! Sorry you are suffering today. If I'm absolutely without my prescription meds, I'll take 4 Advil (doctor approved) and half a Vivrin/caffeine tablet. A cup of coffee or a soda may work. Sounds like you've tried that. Dark glasses, ear plugs, but those probably aren't an option either.
Do you have any Tylenol?
Do you have any prescriptions? I'd look at going to a neurologist to get on preventatives even for hormonal migraines. If not, they can also give you rescue meds like Imitrex or Amerge. Those work on the mechanism of the migraine and can be much better at relieving all of the migraine symptoms.

Excedrin Extra Strength is the only thing that works for me. It's the same idea as coffee + aspirin since the excedrin has aspirin/acetominophen and caffeine. I tried to switch away from it by taking aspirin + drinking tea but my body knew it wasn't the same. Literally no other pain medicine even touches my migraines. I'm grateful that they haven't surpassed it yet, too!
I'm sorry you got one out of the blue - I hate when I get a migraine without going near a trigger.
Excederin Migraine is my best friend.
I have also heard that having two cups of coffee in a very short period of time (aka a few minutes) can sometimes do the trick. I hate coffee, so I don't do this.
I take my prescription meds (Zomig) but even then there are the migraines that pills won't touch.
I have a huge ice pack that is basically the size of a pillow. I take it straight out of the freezer, put it on a pillow and put my head on it - right on the spot with the most pain (usually for me it's right above my right eye). Then I pray to fall asleep.
Good luck! I'm on day one of my period and wondering when mine's going to hit!
