Do the manual food choppers work?
Re: Do the manual food choppers work?
I used to have a cheapy one in a similar style - it definitely didn't work very well! But, that was probably because it was some unknown brand. I have a food chopper from WS: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/vegetable-chop-and-measure/?pkey=e%7Cchop%7C6%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C4&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-Feature_Recipe_Rule%7CTop_Wide_Agrarian%20-%20copy-_-.
It is fine, but I think it actually takes more time than chopping by hand. I use it for onions, mostly. And, the perfect little cubes appeal to my OCD side

We have one and it is great. It is a KitchenAid one though, not PC. I do have to admit that DH put a tomato in one time and it came out a gigantic mess. It didn't chop cleanly, the skin made it a challenge. It was just a watery mess too.
However, you could hand cut the tomatoes and I'm sure everything else would chop fine in the food chopper.

That's my problem with mine.
But I love it for chopping onions, celery and carrots for a mirepoix. I use it for firm vegetables, and skins seem to give it a problem, but it's great for chopping onions fine.
